When a couple has two slightly different versions of their first meeting, it takes some reading between the lines to arrive at the truth. In Pushpa and Charles' case, they will both concede that their first meeting happened at a hospital in New York.
Pushpa recalls that she was introduced to Charles by his friend, who was a junior resident at the time of Charles' ER rotation. But Charles' version of the story includes his initial glimpse of Pushpa. He told his friend that he thought she was very attractive, and decided at that moment he was going to marry her.
Charles' friend thought it was a bit pre-mature for Charles to make a statement like that considering that he didn't even know her name. So, to move things along, he set to work to introduce the two.

After their initial meeting, it became apparent that though they were raised on different sides of the Atlantic, their common values of faith and family helped the two realize that they were meant for each other early on.
