Zheng & AngelaAngela recounted that she and Zheng had met for the first time, many times. They attended the same church and so they participated in a lot of the same functions together. It was the different settings, people and scenarios that each made them more aware of the other over time. That pivitol time for Zheng was when he bumped into a friend of his from Chicago at his local basketball court. Since he lived more than a thousand miles away, Zheng was surprised to see him. His friend revealed that he wasn't there to see Zheng, but coincidentally was there to visit Angela. The six degrees of separation had never been more real for Angela as she had been setup on a blind date, and with Zheng's friend. Though their relationship didn't really take, Zheng became very aware of Angela, and began to take interest in her. As they began to learn about the other Zheng became very interested in Angela. She has Korean heritage, but her love of Chinese culture created an immediate connecting point for Zheng with his Chinese upbringing. He nearly insulted her the first time he tested her ability to speak Chinese by asking her to say "hello". Angela simply charmed Zheng with her fluent Chinese response.
