Dealing with problems in a relationship is never fun, but finding solutions to problems can sometimes create a deeper bond between a couple.

Brendan and Nicole met while in college. Nicole was friend's with Jeff, Brendan's roommate, but she had never met  Brendan until he followed Jeff to a birthday part for Nicole's sister. She spotted Brendan from across the room, and playfully asked Jeff where he had been hiding him.

Soon afterwards Nicole began attending Jeff and Brendan's weekly TV ritual of watching 24 together. And while Jack Bower was busy saving the free world, a friendship between Nicole and Brendan was being built.

Brendan and Nicole are both engineers, problem solvers by trade, and it's this common trait that helped this pair deal with some deep hurts early on in their relationship. That period established a strong foundation for their love to grow.
