Honestly Yours - A Story of Luke & Natalia

Honesty sounds painful, and so most of us want to avoid it. It's hard, awkward, and usually very uncomfortable. It's unfortunate because honesty - particularly honesty in the context of love is one of the most powerful forces in the universe.

Luke and Natalia were able to latch on to that truth early in their relationship. Natalia took the initial leap of honesty when she confided in Luke that she wasn't looking to date casually, she was looking for a mate. That's a bold statement, but one that didn't turn Luke away.

That honesty was not only there from the start, but it transformed their relationship. It allowed them to do everything from pursuing new adventurous activities together to embarking on the adventure of a committed life together. Luke's "genuine authenticity" is the bedrock for Natalia's faith in Luke, and their proactive fearlessness to tell each other the truth was admittedly uncomfortable for them both at first. But as with all worthwhile pursuits, it becomes easier with time, and more so as love grows.

Watch their story and take to heart this powerful lesson that we can all put to practice in our lives. Loving without honesty is really not loving at all.

Congratulations Luke and Natalia!

The beauty of April in Georgia never ceases to amaze me. And for two outdoor lovers like Natalia and Luke the day was a perfect fit.

We always enjoy shooting at Flint Hill. It's intimate, beautiful, and the staff always does a terrific job of making sure we're informed of the days happenings. Though we as a company have worked him before, I personally had not, so it was a pleasure for me to work with Livingston Jaxon for the first time. He' not only a true professional, but he's a hoot and we had a blast laughing and capturing the day together.

We've got more to tell you about how great Luke and Natalia are. Their theme of honesty is a rare and beautiful trait that we will explore deeper in future blog posts. But for today enjoy their trailer and stay tuned for their story which is coming very soon!

Check out Tyler & Katie's new story video segment!

It was a beautiful wedding, that really sums up the day. We had the opportunity to work with many wonderful vendors for the first time. Jennifer Lackey of Storybook Weddings did a tremendous job of pulling the pieces together for Mia and Gordon's big day. We also worked hand in hand with Brandy and Chad of Brandelyn Lee Photography. It's always a pleasure to work with a considerate, helpful and talented photographer! From the Atrium to the Ballroom Your Event Solutions did a superb job of making Chateau Elan one of the most beautiful places we've shot.

atlanta-wedding-video-blog-002

We also had an opportunity to work with Say Yes To The Dress again. It would seem difficult to have an other entire video crew on the day of the wedding, but they are alway a pleasure to work with, very professional and never get in our way. Plus it's fun to chew the video geekdom fat between events.

atlanta-wedding-video-blog-004

All in all it was a great way to mark Gordon and Mia's life together. Though it was a realatively intimate gathering, there was no shortage of love and support from the group. It was clear that those who came shared a deep commitment and admiration for the couple.

Instant Connection - Gordon & Mia

Sometimes there is an instant connection between two people, and sometimes that instant connection needs some time to settle in.

Mia and Gordon got to know each other while spending time on a board for a fundraising event. Gordon recalls that it was the catalyst that really helped them get to know each other better.

It was there that they both learned that they shared a mutual compassion for other people and yet it took some time before that initial instant connection turned into a full blown relationship.

Watch Gordon and Mia's story and learn how admiration can be found in a heart beat and solidified with time.

If there wasn't video, I probably wouldn't believe it

With the hundreds of wedding videos we've done over the years, we've heard some great engagement stories. But after shooting Jessica and Brad's interview, I think I've decided theirs just might take the cake for the most elaborate and creative.

We-Baker-Neave-Interview-Blog

It would take too long to write it all down, but suffice it to say their engagement story took place over four days required 5 flights to two countries and required lying to a customs agent, bribing clergy, coaxing a favor of a lighthouse keeper, and hiring a professional actor in Bermuda.

Yeah, if that doesn't peak your interest, I don't know what will. And the best part is that it's all true. They have it captured on video, which means we'll be putting live sections of their proposal into their finished story video. So be on the look out for Jessica and Brad's story coming shortly!

Epic Wedding Video in Atlanta

If you've followed us much, then you'll understand the irony of what I'm about to say. We believe very strongly that the marriage is more important than the wedding, and so our stories usually focus more on the couple and what's brought them together, and use the wedding only as the canvas on which that story is painted.

Wed-Vaughn-Brown-Blog-01

For Tim and Shaunta it's a little bit different. They both have learned how to navigate the course of love through past relationships. At this point in their lives they've figure out what they are looking for in a relationship and have pursued it.

Wed-Vaughn-Brown-Blog-03

One of those defining characteristics is their desire to put "their stamp" on everything their do. Their wedding was a perfect example of that stamping process being played out. Their epic wedding was personalized in part with the amazing direction of Brian Green of F&G weddings. He helped pull elements from their love of travel into the decor and made a truly remarkable environment for the two to celebrate their union.

Wed-Vaughn-Brown-Blog-02

In addition to Brian we worked with some of our favorite Atlanta vendors - Shawna Herring Photography, DJ Tron, W Midtown, Edge Design, and more.

Stay tuned to the blog for their cinematic trailer, as well as the other segments from their cinematic wedding film! To view their whole story check out their story page here.

New Beginning by the lake

I had the wonderful opportunity to shoot lake-side for the first time ever this past weekend.   Lake Lanier Islands resort is one of the most scenic venues I've ever filmed at, and this was only one of their spaces, they have something like 12 different locations on the lake that are wedding venues.  The weather was a bit warm, but there was surprisingly little boat traffic and no geese to interrupt the nuptials (not sure how they pulled that one off, you'd have to ask Monica Harvell from the Lake Lanier Islands staff.)  She was an absolute pleasure to work with.  We also got to shoot with Todd Baugh.  It had been over a year since I'd last worked with him - such a laid back guy with a really great eye...  oh, and a brand spankin' new Canon 5D Mark III - drool........  Tunes were provided by DJ Slone.  He provided an excellent board feed so we won't have to work very hard when it comes time to mix down the audio (thank you DJ Slone!)  It was also probably the fastest Same Day Edit I've ever been a part of as well.  Ethan had it rendered and ready to play before I even had the TV set up - within about 5 minutes of the ceremony ending - and before you ask, yes - it DID have footage from the ceremony in it.  This is one of the shots he used:

All in all, a great way to spend a Sunday, out on the lake.

When asked about wedding details, Shaunta replied, “We just really wanted it to be something that was uniquely us.”

Details from a logo-embroidered banner to a hand-made cake-topper set this wedding apart. Add love of food and travel to the mix and get an experience full of elegance, color and personality.

“The wedding itself is a destination, but the marriage in and of itself is a living breathing organism.”

Watch this story for personal details that ultimately point to a beautiful love story. “I want to live to be 80 or 90, if God blesses me with that, with her by my side and look at her the same way at 80 as I look at her now.”

Un Nuevo Comienzo - Le'Keldric & Quand

Seven years after eloping Le'Keldric and Quand got married.  “As much as it is a vow-renewal it’s also a new beginning.  Because then we’ll be moving into our 8th year.  And biblically eight is New Beginning.”

“Everything has meaning.  Everything has some kind of symbol that is connected to Kel and myself.”

Todo tiene sentido. Todo tiene algún tipo de símbolo que está conectado a Kel y a mí.

“Inevitably, you go through lots of changes.  As I changed, as she changed, as we changed as a couple, the glue that kept us together was God.

“Inevitablemente, vas a través de muchos cambios. Yo cambié, ella cambió,  cambiamos como una pareja, el pegamento que nos guardó juntos era Dios.

Watch this 7th Anniversary Vow Renewal in a ceremony rich in faith, love and personal details.

Our Wedding - Alkesh & Chetana's Cinematic Trailer

Check out Le'Keldric & Quand's new same day edit video segment!

Alkesh and Chetana have a great story of pursuit. Chetana's quiet nature didn't stop Alkesh from following her to Chicago, where he used a scrap book that he had made as a tool to propose to her at a rooftop restaurant.

Because we had the opportunity to capture the beautiful Atlanta skyline during their reception at Venatanas, we decided to draw on the proposal as a part of their theme.

So the trailer opens with only the sounds of the city and Alkesh and Chetana in each other's arms. By cutting back and forth between the events of the day and the shots of them on the rooftop we're trying to visually connect the proposal in the past and it's unwritten potential - to the present unfolding of the events on their wedding day. Ultimately, it ends by returning to them sitting on the rooftop after their wedding day reminding us that their future as husband and wives is still unwritten, much in the same way their future as an engaged couple was before.

So take a moment to enjoy the trailer of their upcoming wedding film - Our Wedding.

Can I just say I love shooting at the Ritz-Carlton Atlanta? Best vendor meal in the Atlanta market for a wedding videographer.

Chicken with mushrooms and mixed vegetables. Mmmmm..... but I digress. What's really a pleasure is shooting a wedding that was planned by our good friend Brian Green. Whenever Brian is involved, I know that the schedule will be tight, the bride will be confident, and the team responsible for putting together the day will be exceptional.

Cathi Milanes is wonderful photographer and an absolute pleasure to work with and DJ Tron brought the mix. Stay tuned for “Wait-listed for Destiny,” coming soon...
